“Justice for Emerito Samarca, Dionel Campos and Bello Sinzo! Military out of Indigenous Communities!”

We are calling on everyone to demand justice for the three indigenous peoples rights activists, educators and community leaders that were murdered by the Philippine military and the forced evacuation of indigenous peoples of Han-ayan, Surigao del Sur.

On September 4, Friday, we call on everyone to join us in a protest actions in front of Philippine Consulate on 5th Avenue to register our outrage against the killing of Emerito “Tatay Emok” Samarca, Dionel Campos and Bello Sinzo, all involved in the running of indigenous schools in Han-ayan, Surigao del Sur and fighting against the destruction of indigenous ancestral lands of Lumads.

The extrajudicial killings of these community leaders and the militarization of Han-ayan are part of the ongoing political repression under President Aquino and his counterinsurgency program Oplan Bayanihan. Due to the pressure of his final year in office, Aquino is making every attempt in his power to shut down any form of resistance.

The US also sends an annual amount of $50 million in the form of military aid from our tax dollars.
